DavSur teachers protest meager election allowance

THEY were looking forward to get P2,300 for the two days they served in the recently held barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections, but ended up with only P1,000. Thus, teachers in Davao del Sur are crying foul.

From what they have been informed earlier, they were supposed to receive P2,000 per day plus a P300 transportation allowance. This was as stipulated in Commission on Elections (Comelec) Resolution 8332.

What has not been disseminated to them was that on October 30, the day after the elections, the Department of Finance sent a memorandum to the Comelec station that board of election tellers (BET) are only entitled to get P1,000, all in.

Davao del Sur Governor Douglas Ra Cagas meanwhile said he is unaware of the teachers' complaint since they did not ask for his help. (BOT)
