Bowling championship still anybody's game

THE championships in three divisions of the 21st Inter Rotary Bowling Tournament will finally be determined when the final round is played this coming Sunday afternoon at the NCCC Mall B3 Lanes in Matina, Davao City.

Being disputed by 18 Rotary clubs formed into 16 teams are the championships in the Governor's Division, President's Division and Fellowship Division.

Assistant District Governor Rodel Riezl S.J. Reyes of the hosting Rotary Club of East Davao said six teams -RC East Davao, RC South Digos, RC Downtown Davao, RC Matina Davao, RC Digos and RC Central Davao - are disputing the Governor's division dominated by RC East Davao during the last two years.

The President's division crown, on the other hand, is being contested by rotary clubs of South Davao, Calinan, Durian/Pag-asa combined, Sta. Ana Davao, Davao 2000 and North Davao.

Reyes said the Fellowship division title is a toss-up among RC Metro Davao, Toril Davao, Davao and Waling-Waling/Urban Davao combined.

After last Sunday's fourth round games, RC East Davao led in the Governor's division, South Davao in the President's division and Metro Davao in Fellowship division, but outcome of the final round is unpredictable since no team has been consistent in its standing.

In team and individual honors, RC East Davao dominated the fourth round -in highest team single; highest team double; highest individual single (women)-spouse Nits Subido and highest individual double (women)-spouse Tina Alovera.

Highest individual single (men) went to PP Rudy Abellana of RC South Davao, while highest individual double was grabbed by Rtn. Oca Laguna of RC Pag-asa.

Sunday's encounters start at 2 p.m.

The bowlfest is partly sponsored by San Miguel Corporation, Davao Light and Power Co., Inc., Chowking, Coca Cola Exports Philippines and Governor-elect Pablito "Billy" Parilla.

Tournament chairman is RCED past president Amador "Ading" Macatangay. Tournament director (on rules and disputes) is Virgilio Sojor, also RCED immediate past president.
