SOS Children's Ville captures football titles

THE SOS Children's Village bagged the elementary and high school division titles of the 4th Acosta Cup 7-A-Side Football Competition at the Tionko field over the weekend.

The SOS elementary squad bested the Muslim Children girls’ team and Holy Child School of Davao that placed second and third, respectively.

In the high shcool event, SOS prevailed over Holy Child that came second and the Stallions of the Philippine Women's College that finished third.

The Mabini Football Club, Gasco Elementary School (Toril) and Kapitan Tomas along with one team from Compostela Valley also saw action in the bootfest organized by the Office of Davao City Councilor Mabel Acosta.

The Ladies Open, meanwhile, will kick off Saturday at the same venue.

It will be an 11-A-Side tournament that will feature the University of the Philippines in Mindanao, D' Davao Survivors and Holy Child.

Another team will have a crack selection of players from SOS and PWC and another team composed of Ateneo de Davao University and South Point School players. (MLSA)
