Davao booters post wins in POF finals

THE Davao City teams won their opening matches at the start of the 2nd Philippine Olympic Festival National Championship at the Philsports Complex.

The Davao U-15 team blanked Negros Occidental, 3-0, Tuesday with goals courtesy of Jomar Acedo, Jorem Jabile and Derrico Gabriel Diamante in the 29th, 51st and 59th minutes, respectively.

Davao's U-15 booters will next clash against Camarines Norte at 9 a.m. Wednesday before they battle Muntinlupa on Thursday and Iloilo on Friday.

Romeo Raphael Du, Jorem Samuel Diamante, Roberto Torrejon Jr., Jose Edgar Alfred Ilagan, Joshua Paolo Carrasco, Amiel Jan Paclibar, Emmanuel Josue Brisson, Frances Abrasaldo, Jayve Mabuslang, Renz Rey Napuran, Isiah Simms, Jeneric Awing, David Amelo Diamante, Amani Aguinaldo and Charleston Uy also played for the David Peñano-coached U-15 team.

The Davao U-17 squad, on its part, beat Para¤aque, 5-2, Monday.

Parañaque scored the first goal int eh 19th minute but Davao's Ken Hager countered later with a goal in the 31st. Dabawenyo teammate John Carl Genabe then knocked in back-to-back goals in the 54th and 59th to snatch a 3-1 lead for Davao.

Parañaque, however, sealed another goal in the 65th to come close at 2-3 but Davao's Roland Manabit and Darwin Salavia hit goals in the 70th and 83rd to complete the win.

The Ramonito Carreon-coached Davao U-17 was still playing Iloilo City as of this writing Tuesday. Davao will collide with San Juan Wednesday. (MLSA)
