Thursday, November 15, 2007 4 Reds dead, 3 soldiers wounded in Kudarat clash
AT LEAST four members of the New People's Army (NPA) were killed while three government troopers were wounded in the latest encounter in Columbio, Sultan Kudarat Province on Tuesday afternoon.
According to reports gathered from the Sultan Kudarat Police Provincial Office, members of the Charlie Company of the Army's 27th Infantry Battalion were patrolling the boundary of Columbio, Sultan Kudarat Province and Davao Del Sur at around 5 p.m. Tuesday when the incident happened.
The group crossed paths with at least 20 members of the Front Committee 74 of the NPA, resulting to an exchange of gunshots than lasted for about an hour.
The rebels were forced to retreat upon the arrival of government reinforcement troops.
Two M14 and M16 armalite rifles, ammunition and subversive documents were recovered from the bodies of the dead rebels.
However, three members of the Army's 27th IB were also wounded in the encounter.
The military is presently conducting hot pursuit operation against the group. (Edgardo Fuerzas)
