18th Durian Tee set at Apo

SOME 400 golfers are expected to vie for the championship and a brand new Mitsubishi Fusion GLX hole-in-one prize in the 18th Durian Tee Invitational Tournament set November 29-30 and December 1-2 at the scenic Apo Golf and Country Club Inc. (AGCCI).

AGCCI general manager Martin Misa bared this during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn Thursday.

"The Mitsubishi car is courtesy of our major sponsor Kar Asia Inc. Our other hole-in-one prizes are P500,000 cash courtesy of JTL Insurance Agency and Yamaha golf cart," Misa said.

Misa said participants from Manila, Tacloban, Zamboanga, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, General Santos and Cotabato City have confirmed to join the 36-hole Stableford format golfest that will tee off at 5:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.

"There were 434 golfers who competed last year, surpassing the target of 400. We might have close to the same turnout this year," Misa said.

Registration fee is P2,000 for club members and P3,000 for non-members.
Misa said the team competition will have be grouped into class A and B. The class A will have aggregate handicap of 12 while those in class B will have handicap of 13 to 24.

Individual class A, B and C winners will receive prizes.

Kar Asia Inc. is the event's primary sponsor, with Mabuhay Exchange Trading, Anflocor Management Corp., Kart Plaza, BHI Group of Companies, Medsa, Davao City Water District, H2Zero Distilled Drinking Water, Monark Equipment Corp., Wilson Sports and JLBP Manpower Services serving as the major sponsors.

The minor sponsors are Orient Glass & Aluminum Supply, Felcris Supermarket, BIDA/VALOR Security Agency, Zakoya Japanese Restaurant, Maxam Trucking Services Inc., MG Golf Academy, Countryside Steel, Apo View Hotel, Multi-turf, Coca Cola Bottlers Phils., RCBC Savings, JTL Insurance Agency/Stronghold Insurance and San Andres Fishing.
