"Some non-members just signed up for membership so they can play in the six-game elimination tournament," Orteza said.
Orteza, who guested during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn Thursday, said their club now has 400 members.
"Inactive members who haven't played for a long time may still play and get a handicap of 20 points. A team with one class A, one class B, and one class C players will have no handicap," Orteza said.
Orteza said the team, with one class A and two class C, will have a handicap of three points, a team with BBC five points, BCC 10 points and three class C players with 15 points.
The outgoing SBC chief, who will end his third term as president next month, added only three players are allowed to play in a game.
The top three teams after the eliminations will advance to the step-the-ladder championship round set on December 1.
The tournament offers cash prizes of P3,000 to the champion, P2,000 to the runner-up and P1,000 to the third placer.
Registration fee is P500 including alley fees.
The SBC will hold its Christmas party and election of new set of officers on December 16. (MLSA)
