City Council supports Mindanao Week of Peace

THE Davao City Council expressed support for the Mindanao Week of Peace celebration from November 28 to December 5 with the commitment of being peacemakers in their personal capacities.

In a resolution proposed by Councilor Pilar Braga, the body said its share in the anxieties and concerns relating to absence of peace in Mindanao.

"We strive to attain genuine reconciliation, gradually overcome centuries-old animosities, constantly search common grounds, and walk with one another towards a future of peace and justice," Braga said.
The body also encourages the continuation of the RP-MILF peace talks and called for the rehabilitation of the remaining refugees of war and those who are still rebuilding their lives and homes.

"We commit to promote peace and work for justice in our sectors, churches, workplace and communities, we commit to be role models of peace and unity in the City Council," Braga said. (GLP)
