AdDU girls to play in Europe
By Charles Raymond A. Maxey

FOUR young girls from the Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) have been invited to play in a series of soccer tournaments in Europe next year, including the prestigious Gothia Cup.

Alyssa Marie Ang, Erika Lorraine Turtur, Noreen Kim Maligad and Kyhren Angela Dimaandal will form part of the Makati Football Club (MFC), which will represent the Philippines in the European swing.

Ang, Turtur, Maligad and Dimaandal are members of the Ateneo soccer teams, which bagged the 12-Under crown and placed second in the 14-Under categories of the 2007 Alaska Cup played in Alabang last November.

Turtur was named Most Valuable player (MVP) in that event.

Alyssa Marie is the niece of lawyer Enrique O. Diola of the ACCRA law office and the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, while Erika is the daughter of kagawad Val Turtur of Skyline.

Noreen Kim is the daughter of Jojo and Doctor Gemma Maligad, while Kyhren Angela is the daughter of doctors Henry and Kim Dimaandal.

The four girls, who are under coach Alex Adolfo, will bring their skills first in the Costa Blanca Cup scheduled in Alicante, Spain from July 6-12. They will then play in the Gothia Cup, considered the biggest youth football tournament in the world set in Goteborg, Sweden from July 13-20.

Last stop will be the Denmark Football Festival scheduled in Aarhus, Denmark from July 21 to 27.

Four more elementary boys and 10 high school players from Ateneo de Davao, and two from Emar are set to join the European trip.
