THE Team Philippines bagged three silver medals and one bronze so far in the pre-opening shooting competition at the 24th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games at the Shooting Range, Sports Authority of Bangkok, Thailand as of Tuesday.
Host Thailand is much ahead with 14 gold medals, 16 silvers and six bronzes to lead the official medal tally followed by Singapore with eight gold, six silvers and six bronzes in second and Vietnam with seven gold, three silvers and 11 bronzes in third.
Trailing behind were Malaysia with a 2-3-5-medal count, Myanmar with 2-2-1, Philippines 0-3-1 and Indonesia 0-0-2.
Jacqueline de Guzman settled for silver in the women's skeet event while the men's trap team and men's skeet team won two more silvers for the RP contingent.
Filipino shooter Emerito Concepcion got the bronze in men's 10m air rifle category of the Games set to formally open on Thursday.
Defending champion Team Philippines is expected to face an uphill contest in its title-retention bid with Thailand as its stiffest rival.
