Football Cup opens Saturday

CLOSE to 70 teams are seeing action in the 1st Duterte-Librado Football Cup that kicks off on Saturday at 8 a.m. at the Tionko field.

Davao Football Association (DFA) secretary Erwin Protacio said there will be seven age-group categories in the one-day 7-A-Side tournament.

Protacio said the bootfest is presented by Davao City Vice Mayor Inday Sara Duterte and City Councilor Angela Librado in coordination with DFA.

"It will have boys 14-under, 12-under, 10-under and eight-under events and girls elementary, high school and ladies open divisions," he said during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn Thursday.

The teams will be grouped depending on the turnout of entries in every category, according to Protacio.

Trophies and medals will be at stake for the winners with the champion teams getting free burgers from Al's Diner. (MLSA)
