Saturday, December 08, 2007 Musical parade in 'Rondalya Sa Kalsada'
"PASKO Fiesta sa Dabaw" brings back "Rondalya Sa Kalsada," a Christmas merrymaking and folk dancing to the beat of Yuletide tunes played by Davao's rondalla players along the City Hall complex and in a competitive showdown at the Rizal Park.
The competition is open to any rondalla based musicians in Davao City either composed at least five members whether elementary, high school or college students, out of school youth or community folks playing the musical instrument and at least 5 dancers to illuminate the musical rendition.
Therefore, minimum member of participating groups is 10. No maximum limit is set.
The competition has two parts: the street caroling and the showdown performance. During the street caroling the participating groups should render 3 to 5 minutes stationary caroling performances. During the showdown, each rondalla player is given 7 to 10 minutes only to perform.
Criteria for judging are as follows: Street Caroling (total of 30 percent) -- Unity and Precision (5 percent), Tonal Quality and Balance (10 percent), Choice of Piece/ Musical Composition (5 percent), Choreography (5 percent), Visual Impact (5 percent);
Showdown Performance (total of 70 percent) -- Unity and Precision (15 percent), Tonal Quality and Balance (30 percent), Choice of Piece/ Musical Composition (10 percent), Choreography (10 percent), Visual Impact (30 percent)
Grand winners will receive the following prizes: First Prize -- P50,000, Second Prize -- P40,000, Third Prize -- P30,000, and 7 Consolation Prizes of P5,000 each.
