Woman falls to her death inside mall
By Rhodamae M. Hernandez

A WOMAN, identified only by her tattoo as Karra, fell to her death from the fourth level of a mall to its basement Thursday afternoon.

Witnesses said the woman was going down the escalator at around 5 p.m. Thursday and was about to call someone on her cellphone when she lost her balance and fell off the railing.

The 911 Emergency Rescue Team rushed the victim to the San Pedro Hospital, but she was declared dead upon arrival.

PO2 Richard Dionisio of the Sta. Ana police station said they have not identified the victim since her belongings appeared to have been stolen amid the hysteria that followed her fall among mall goers.

"Up to now, wala gihapon naga-claim and that Karra na pseudonym, nakabutang na sa ilalom sa iyang tattoo na guardians on her right arm (no one has claimed her body. We used Karra to identify her because that is tattooed on her right arm below a Guardians tattoo)," Dionisio told Sun.Star Davao.

Dionisio said that in their investigation, it appears to be an accident; apparently the woman lost hold of her cellphone and tried to make a grab of this.

"Wala gyud foul play sa among investigation, wala man pud mga barriers sa mall na maingon nato na mao to ang cause (We don't see any foul play. There were also nothing in the mall that we could say caused her to fall). Our investigation was also based on the verbal accounts of the witnesses na nakastorya namo sa crime scene (that we talked to)," Dionisio said in an interview adding that the San Pedro hospital will turn over the cadaver to Angel Funeral Homes if unclaimed by 5 p.m. Friday.

The victim died due to massive internal hemorrhage.
