THE 2007 Pamaskong Handog ni Mayor Rodrigo Duterte Chess Championships will feature three categories on December 15 and 16 at the Market Basket, Damosa, Lanang.
Tournament director Ronnie Tabudlong Friday said the open event will be held on the first day while the juniors and kiddies divisions are set the following day.
Tabudlong said the open category has no age limit. The juniors event, however, requires players to be 20 years old and below, born not earlier than 1987 while the kiddies category will allow participants who are 14 years old and below and born not earlier than 1993.

"The FIDE Laws of Chess, particularly the Laws on Rapid Chess, shall govern the tournament. We welcome players to join this free registration chessfest. Recording by players is optional," he added.
The open champion will receive P5,000 cash prize while the runner-up will pocket P2,500 and the third placer will go home with P1,500. The fourth placer will not go home empty-handed with P1,000.
The top four junior chessers will get P2,000, P1,000, P750, P500 and P250 while the first four kiddie winners will win P1,000, P750, P500, P250 and P150.
