DAVAO City is one of the country's fastest growing metropolitans and, more than the financial aspect of development, the city is teeming with life as its health care industry continuously improves.
The Davao Medical School Foundation is one of the latest additions to the growing number of hospitals in the city that offers world-class standard healthcare.
In its bid to offer world-class service, the X-Ray department of the Davao Medical School Foundation Hospital recently launched the latest addition to its array of hi-technology medical equipment, a Siemens Axiom Iconos R100.
According to the Siemens area sales manager for Mindanao, Jake Pabaonon, the Axiom Iconos R100 was the first of its kind here in Mindanao. The newly acquired machine, Pabaonon added, costs about P9 million.
The Siemens Axiom Iconos R100 is a universal fluoroscopic x-ray diagnostic system. Some of the procedures that are made available by the system are the following: Percutaneous biliary duct drainage, Nephrostomy insertion, Vascular Access Insertion, Pacemaker insertion, Myelogram, Fracture Close Reduction, Peripheral Agiogram, Endoscopy.
With the new Siemens Axiom Iconos R100, the Davao Medical School Foundation is indeed leading the pack in the healthcare industry not only in Davao but in the entire Mindanao.
"We are in a better position to compete with the bigger hospitals in the region," Dr. Samuel Bangoy, chairman of the X-Ray Department of the DMSF Hospital, said in an interview. Bangoy added that the new machine has the lowest radiation emission. "It has a care dose emission without compromising the image," Bangoy said.
The Siemens Axiom Iconos R100 would now enable doctors to perform more invasive procedures such as pacemakers' insertion. The cost for the use of the machine would vary from case to case depending on the procedure.
"With the dynamic staff and administration of the DMSF Hospital, plus the latest technology, we would be one of the best in the city," Bangoy added.
The P9 million-Siemens Axiom Iconos R100 will soon be complimented with a multi-slice CT Scan that the DMSF hospital is going to procure by the first quarter of 2008.
