Sunday, December 30, 2007 More troops added to Army's 10th Division
MORE troops are added to the Philippine Army's 10th Infantry Division as their internal security operations keep on in their area of responsibility.
Army's 10th ID chief Major General Ernesto Boac formally received on Friday "150 young bloods to compose the Philippine Army Candidate Soldier Course Class 170-2007."
Seventy percent of the qualified applicants were recruited within the 10th ID area of responsibility while 30 percent came from other parts of Mindanao area.
As to their educational profile, 15.33 percent are college graduates, 34 percent are college level (with 72 units earned), 6 percent are graduates of vocational courses and 44.67 percent are high school graduates with technical expertise highly regarded in the military service.
Five of the recruits are lumads who underwent the same strict selection process.
The candidate soldiers underwent the traditional military reception, which includes military dozen exercises such as squat thrust, push-ups, jumping jack and other modified exercises to initially test their physical stability.
Boac administered the oath of allegiance to the newly recruit soldiers. He challenged the recruits to prove their worth and to aggressively pursue their dreams and never lose sight of success.
"Rest if you must but don't you quit," Boac said.
After the reception, the applicants were immediately hauled for in-trucking to 10th Division Training Unit based in Malagos for their training which will be handled by the training committee headed by Major Efren Morados who is also designated as officer-in-charge of the said training unit.
