Monday, December 31, 2007 Cloudy skies to welcome New Year
THE unpredictable weather that is currently affecting Southern Mindanao is due to the presence of an Inter Tropical Convergent Zone (ITCZ).
While the tail-end of a cold front is affecting Northern and Central Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) does not expect any more storms to enter the Philippine area of responsibility until the end of the year.
Mostly cloudy skies accompanied by scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will be prevalent in the region for the first few days of 2008.
Light to moderate winds will be blowing from the East and Southeastern directions over the region. Coastal waters will be ranging from slight to moderate.
In the extended weather forecast of Pag-asa, it said more rainy weather would be experienced by Southern Mindanao in the days after the New Year has been ushered in. However, temperatures will be stable at a high of 31 degrees Celsius and at a low of 24 degrees Celsius throughout the entire week.
Humidity will peak shortly before daybreak at a high of 98 percent and will sharply fall to a low of 67 percent shortly before noon. (CPM)
