P1,000 for any squealer on pyro ban violators

WANT an extra thousand for the New Year? Then all you have to do is give information to authorities of any firecracker violators.

The 'bounty' was offered by Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte during his television program "Gikan sa Masa, Para sa Masa" Sunday. The mayor said all he needs is information on who violated the ban and he will readily give the reward.

"Hatagi lang ko ninyo ug code kung kinsa nang sige'g pabuto ka ako na bahala," Duterte said. (Just give me a code on who and where the rampant violation is being committed and I will do the rest.)

The mayor said that many of the violators are those coming from posh subdivisions especially in Ecoland. Duterte said he is eyeing one particular house in that subdivision. This particular house has been observed to be using firecrackers since the ban was implemented.

"You moneyed idiots here, kamo ma'y maguna-una. Gusto na tamo hiritan bah (you are the leading violators and I'm itching to hit you)," Duterte said.

Last Christmas, several violators were apprehended by the police but were released immediately since most of them were minors. (BOT)
