"I'm so privileged to be offered this rare opportunity to train in Japan with other varsity players there. I'm really looking forward to learn and contribute more to the Philippine team," del Socorro told members of the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) in verncular in their weekly forum at the Tower Inn Thursday.

His teammate from Davao Ruel Batuto said two of their teammates from Manila and Zamboanga would train with professional teams in Taiwan.

Batuto said the national baseball team is set to compete in the Asia Cup to be hosted by Manila and in the Inter-Continental Cup set in Taiwan this year.

"The Philippine Baseball Season 3 will open in February. That's why we have to go back to Manila early next month," Batuto said.

Del Socorro and Batuto also formed part of the 2005 RP team that won the championship against Thailand at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.
