Joining the Talomo National High School shuttler Mayono, who ranked fourth in the nationwide search for outstanding youth sports icon recently in Manila, for the title-bid are teammates Irish Aberilla and Anna Michelle Alba with Ateneo's Mary Joy Maynabay.

Veteran coach Jethra Villanueva of Talomo National High School said the DCAA badminton teams including the secondary boys, elementary and boys and girls teams, just started training last Monday.

"We can't be sure to win the championship in the other categories but I'm confident that our secondary girls team to win the crown," Villanueva told Sun.Star Davao via text messages Friday.

"The elementary boys and girls teams are composed of new players but I believe the players will do their best in the regional meet," she added.

Ian Carl Villapaz, William Magallon and Jayson Quiben of Talomo NHS and Niccolo Bangayan of Ateneo banner the secondary boys team, while Talomo Central's Michael John Maynopas, Ren-Ren Limboy and Barry Marchan consist the elementary boys team along with Kerwin Haw of Stella Maris Academy of Davao.

Calling the shots for DCAA in the elementary girls side are Talomo Central's Dainica Potestad, Amery Yba¤ez and Judy Kate de Castro with Atenean Kim Therese Jarabelo.

The Davraa Meet is the qualifying sportsfest for the Palarong Pambansa.
