THE 1st Holiday Spa 3-on3 Basketball Tournament will kick off Feb. 16 at the newly built Holiday Gym and Spa Basketball Court.

This was bared by Holiday Gym and Spa chief operations officer Ivy Fernandez during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn Thursday.

"The tournament will be played in two weekends, Feb. 16 and 17, Feb. 23 and 24. It features 16 to 21 years old, 22 to 27 and 28-above age-groups," Fernandez said.

Fernandez said they expect to accommodate 10 teams in every category of the cagefest that offers prizes to the winners.

"We have yet to finalize the prizes depending on the turnout of sponsorships. We will map things out by next week," she said.

Gym supervisor Cocoy Malbog said a team must have four players including the one reserved player.

"We will have to decide the format of the competition depending on the turnout of participants. We still could not decide whether to have it on a single round robin, single knockout, or double eliminations," Malbog said.

Fernandez added the registration is pegged at P800 for every team inclusive of eight jersey uniforms where each player will receive two jerseys.

"This is open to all Dabawenyos. We encourage companies and schools to join," Fernandez said.

Interested teams may contact telephone numbers (082) 222-3041 or 222-4207.

Fernandez said HGS has lined up a lot of activities for this year including an all-women basketball meet and media basketball tournament, among others.
