Nograles to shoulder Batman's housing loan
By Ben O. Tesiorna

ACTING as a good friend to a fallen buddy, Representative Prospero Nograles (1st district, Davao City) is planning to shoulder the payments for the house loan of broadcaster Fernando 'Batman' Lintuan.

In a text message, Nograles said he and Lintuan have been friends for some time now and his gesture is nothing compared to the friendship the slain broadcaster had given him.

"Batman and I have been throgh good and bad times. Win or lose. I got him that house when I was housing chair. His kids have nothing from him except that house and memories," Nograles said.

It was learned that the National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC) has already forwarded the unpaid housing loan bills of the late Lintuan to Nograles.

The bills, totaling over P200,000, represented Lintuan's payment arrears after he acquired a housing unit in NHA-Maa.

Lintuan lost his wife, Nora, to cancer in 2003 and had since encountered difficulty in servicing his housing loan.

"It was Batman's dream to give his family a house. Giving Batman's children the house their father wanted for them could help ease the pain of being complete orphans at tender ages, hopefully," Norales said.

It was learned that Nograles also gave funds for the continued education of Lintuan's children aside from shouldering the cost of the funeral.

The congressman said he would see to it that Lintuan's children will finish college.

Lintuan left four children -- the eldest being 21 and the youngest, 10.
