Man kills wife, tries to kill self

A MAN stabbed himself after he stabbed his wife at the height of an argument in their house at Purok 10 in Barangay Poblacion, Magsaysay, Davao del Sur.

Maylene Dapicog, 22, was declared dead due to multiple stab wounds by Dr. Merlin Gonzales when brought to the Viacrusis Medical Clinic Monday night.

The husband, Raul Dapikog, is still undergoing treatment.

In an interview with the victim's uncle, Junie Reblinga, he said the couple had a fight when the husband came home after attending a fiesta celebration in nearby Barangay Dalawinon at around 9 p.m. Monday.

According to the uncle, the next thing he heard was his niece shouting for help while he overheard Dapikog screaming that both of them will die together.

He said when he went inside the house, his niece was already lying on the floor. Dapikog has a self-inflicted wound on the right chest.

The body of the dead victim was brought back to her municipality for autopsy. Relatives of the couple are not aware why the couple fought.

Police in Magsaysay are conducting a thorough investigation to solve the crime. (Dondon Dinoy/Sun.Star Superbalita)
