Wednesday, January 23, 2008 Aussie cagers see action vs Brokenshire 5 Wednesday
THE Australian Sports Ambassadors Basketball Team will play four exhibition games against Davao City teams Wednesday and Thursday at the Almendras Gym.
The Aussies, who came from Perth, Western Australia, will test the mettle of the Brokenshire College varsity team at 4 p.m. today at the Brokenshire covered court.
They will then play against the Barangay 32-D selection at the Barangay 32-D covered court fronting the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) Bonifacio campus at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday.
The next two games will be against Mats College of Technology varsity at 4 p.m. at the Mats covered court then against the Christopher "Bong" Go-led Duterte Agilas at 6 p.m. at the Almendras Gym also on Thursday.
The foreign team is also set to pay a courtesy call on BAP-Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas regional director Regino "Boy" Cua.
The Aussies swept all 14 games in Bukidnon Province including the 79-58 win against Northern Mindanao champion Bukidnon State University.
Ventures for Victory director Gary Visitacion said the objective of this visit "is to conduct some friendship games against local teams, learn the local culture of the Dabawenyos, establish camaraderie, and share the love of Jesus Christ to the people they meet during the games." (MLSA)
