2 fishers missing off Indon waters

TWO fishermen, who went out to sea off Indonesian waters, remain missing.

The wives of the victims, Lucecille Kilat, 30, resident of Greenville and Rosemina Segera, resident of Catapang Heights, Barangay Calumpang, General Santos City, sought the assistance of the Tambler Police Station.

According to the two, the three fishermen -- Ricardo Ganoy, Rosalito Segera, and Dodong Abdulah -- boarded the fishing boat FV Mel and Jay on January 8.

Upon reaching high seas near Indonesia, the two victims boarded a smaller boat and were unable to return to the bigger fishing boat. Their companions returned to General Santos City without the two fishermen.

The wives of the victims are blaming the captain of FV Mel and Jay for not waiting for their husbands. The wives fear that their husbands were drowned due to the bad weather condition.

The two want the captain, one Erning Orbeso, to take responsibility for his negligence. (Mel Coronel)
