Electricity restored at Agdao public market
By Grace L. Plata

AFTER 11 days, electric power at the Agdao public market has been fully restored Wednesday evening.

Francisco Vales Jr., chief of the City Economic Enterprises that manages city-owned markets, said the contractor of the Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC) has been extending all efforts to expedite the repairs.

"Before Attorney (Wendel) Avisado left for Australia, he already called DLPC to look into the matter," vales said in the vernacular.

Vales said that DLPC immediately sent their inspector to check the damage.

"Wala dayun na-restore kay dili lang repairs ang gihimo sa contractor (It was not restored immediately because the contractor was not only doing repairs). Kailangan pa nila mag-fabricate ug tray (They have to fabricate tray) especially for the power requirement sa (in the) market. The cable tray should be able to accommodate power lines with a 200-meter diameter," Vales said.

He added that the repairs were done earlier than the deadline. "One month among tagal sa ila pero nahuman within 11 days (we gave them a month but they have done it within 11 days)," Vales said.

Since January 12, the building that houses the meat, fish, and vegetable sections of the Agdao public market has been operating without electricity because the DLPC transformer servicing it had conked out. This has forced stall owners to rent a generator to get by.
