Batman slay probe far from over: mayor

INVESTIGATION on the death of veteran broadcaster Fernando "Batman" Lintuan is far from over, according to Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, as he opined that investigators still have not presented enough prima facie evidence to merit a strong case against the perpetrators.

In Rev. Apollo Quiboloy's television program, Duterte said that even with the arrest of a new suspect in the person of radio broadcaster Nilo Larosa the case is still not solved.

"Unless I see a prima facie case there, I am not satisfied. I need to see a more substantial case that goes beyond just a suspect," he said.

Earlier, police interrogated Oliver Antoc after he was positively identified by two of three witnesses in the Batman murder but almost a month after his arrest the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group still has not filed murder charges against the suspect.

Antoc already posted bail for the illegal possession of drugs and firearms filed against him.

Last week, Larosa was the second "suspect" to be arrested this time by the NBI.

Larosa was allegedly positively identified as well by one witness as being the person who shot Lintuan on December 24 as the victim was going out of radio statin dxGO along R. Castillo, Agdao, Davao City.

A day after his arrest, Larosa was however able to post bail for the illegal possession charge filed against him. The murder charge has yet to be decided by the City Prosecutor's Office.

Mayor Duterte has been saying that he has detailed information about the murder of Lintuan but declared that he will not be cooperating with the investigation by the police and the National Bureau of Investigation as he is considered as one of the suspects. (BOT)
