THE Department of Education (DepEd)-Southern Mindanao has tasked school heads to hold transition activities for teachers as part of the preparations to ensure the smooth start of schoolyear 2008-2009 this June.
In a memo issued on January 23, school heads under the supervision of the schools division superintendents, shall make planning and transition activities within March and April after the early enrollment period for grades 2 to 6 and first to fourth curriculum year.
The activities will cater to all students including those with behavioral problems, learning and reading difficulties, special children and others in need of special concerns.
Activities shall focus on past student performance. It will also consider the behavioral and anecdotal records as well as individual reading assessment record of the students.
DepEd-Southern Mindanao Director Susana Teresa Estigoy said the records will serve as inputs to the instructional programs of the receiving teachers and the school guidance and counseling program.
Aside from transition meetings, the schools heads were also instructed to plan on improving the consolidated enrollment list by grade and curriculum year levels, turning over of enrollment forms to the receiving school heads, organization of the sections by grade or year levels and the orientation activities for both students and parents before the June classes start.
