WHILE it may be true that behind every successful man is a woman, there is just no denying that also behind every successful man, and even a woman, is One Proud Mama.
Enter Q's newest primetime public affairs program, One Proud Mama, hosted by OPM diva Jaya.
A weekly magazine talk show, One Proud Mama brings to the spotlight the mothers of some of the country's biggest and famous personalities. But unlike other profile magazine shows that focus on celebrities and their equally popular mothers, One Proud Mama will instead feature non-celebrity mothers who have managed to "quietly" support their successful children.
"The mothers are such characters. They're more vibrant than their own children. They have a lot of stories. Simula sa kapanganakan, yung era nila, kung paano ugali ng anak nila when they were young, what were their hobbies [at] ano yung una nilang trabaho," shares program host Jaya.
Offering a peek into the personal, and at times very private, relationship between the mothers and their famous children, One Proud Mama aims to share privileged information that only their mothers know.
"Aabangan talaga nila yung deeper stories ng mga personality tsaka nung mga nanay, na sa ibang show hindi matatackle because kakaunti lang yung oras," says Jaya.
Through their mothers, the untold secrets of these celebrities will finally be revealed! Viewers will have the chance to take a glimpse at some of the celebrities' old photo albums, their favorite stuffed toys, or even their old love letters.
"Its really fun [and] very laid back [at maraming] bukingan. Meron talagang nagsasabi na 'nagagalit ako sa anak ko kasi pinapasok niya yung girlfriend niya sa kuwarto!' Nakakatawa! May bukingan talaga!" says Jaya.
And for its pilot episode this Monday, One Proud Mama will feature no less than the mother of the country's ultimate singer and songwriter, Ogie Alcasid.
A small man with big dreams, Ogie boasts of roots in Taal, Batangas. He is destined to succeed---equipped with talent, determination, hard work, and of course the loving support of the woman who gave him life -- Herminia "Minnie" Alcasid -- his One Proud Mama!
