THE Philippine Army discovered two bodies of alleged members of New People's Army (NPA) in two Barangays in Baganga, Davao Oriental last week.
Lieutenant Colonel Rolando Bautista of the Army's 10th Infantry Division said the cadavers were discovered in barangays Campawa and Lambajon last week and were immediately buried in the presence of barangay officials in the area.
He said the unidentified rebels were involved in the encounter against the military in Campawa last January 30 where six soldiers were killed and eight wounded.
In almost two weeks of fighting, a total of nine soldiers and policemen were killed.
This is the first time that dead bodies of rebels were recovered. The military has long been claiming that the NPA's suffered more casualties than the soldiers in all the encounters. (BOT)
