THE 10th Infantry Division awarded the Wounded Personnel Medal to eight soldiers Monday. The eight soldiers were wounded in an encounter with the rebel forces last month.

The awardees were Corporal Roger Obingue, Corporal Edgar Hilario, Private First Class Fadzhar Ahajan, Private First Class Alvis Maruhom, Private First Class Romil Alinsunurin, Private First Class Ismar Paglinawan, Private First Class Ahmad Abubakar, and Private Welbert Bellosillo.

All the soldiers are now in stable condition and recuperating.

Aside from receiving the Wounded Personnel Medal Award, the soldiers also received financial assistance from Major General Ernesto Boac.

"We have to see to it that our soldiers are taken cared of," Boac said in an interview.

Boac added that the soldiers would not spend any peso for the medical treatment that they have undergone at the Davao Medical Center.

In an interview with Corporal Roger Obingue, he said he is very grateful for the help extended by his Commanding General and of the local government.

"Hindi talaga nila kami pinabayaan," Obingue said.

The eight soldiers, together with six others who were killed, were hailed for the gallantry they have shown in fighting with the rebel forces although they were outnumbered.
