ROMY Garcia crowned himself Dutba January Bowler of the Month champion after besting rivals in the monthly finals at the NCCC Mall B3 Center lanes Friday evening.
Garcia landed at the third spot of the step-the-ladder championship round after the six-game elimination series. He came from behind to defeat number 2 Dr. Nestor Tepoot.
Garcia then went on to pull off back-to-back upsets at the expense of No. 1 Ed Sulamin in two straight games to bag the title and pocket the top purse.
He also received a champion's trophy.
JP de Guzman, however, won the month's top qualifier award in the tournament organized by the Durian Tenpin Bowlers Association (Dutba). (MLSA)
