UM lady dribblers sizzle
By Marianne Saberon-Abalayan

REIGNING women's national champion University of Mindanao (UM) Cardinals proved too much for their rivals as they hacked out huge wins in the 2008 DC Prisaa Meet basketball competition over the weekend.

The Cardinals, with dynamic coach Crisanthemum "Ining" Sarabia at the helm, crushed the Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) Lady Blue Knights, 87-13, at the Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC) Gym Saturday.

Post here your Valentine's Day greetings

Sarabia's wards followed it up with an overwhelming 106-26 victory against the Brokenshire College (BC) and a 96-30 triumph over Davao Doctors College (DDC) Sunday at the San Pedro College (SPC) Gym.

Men's regional champion UM Wildcats tamed the RMC Bulldogs, 60-54, to also share the limelight in the cagefest organized as part of the Davao City Private Schools Athletic Association (DC-Prisaa) Meet.

The Bulldogs bounced back with an easy win over DMMA College of Southern Philippines (DCSP).

The Agro-Industrial Foundation College (AIFC) Sailors sank BC, 66-51, Saturday but the latter recovered by humbling STI College, 89-62, the next day.

The Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) whipped University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC), 73-49, in another men's game.

In the girls' side, RMC downed BC, 40-33, while SPC clobbered AdDU, 41-29, only to fall at the hands of the BC cagebelles, 53-73, in a later match.

Games will resume on Saturday in the Basketball Association of the Philippines-Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (BAP-SBP)-sanctioned cage loop.

The champion teams will represent the city to the regional meet in March.
