Sunday, February 10, 2008 Bring NBN controversy to court: Gonzales By Carlo P. mallo
NATIONAL Security Adviser Norberto Gonzales wants to get to the bottom of the controversy over the National Broadband Network (NBN) deal with the Chinese company ZTE Corp.
"But we must bring it to the courts, and not through a circus," Gonzalez said in an interview Saturday in Tagum City.
Gonzalez was with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to grace the closing ceremonies of the Local Peace and Security Assembly.
But given the option, Gonzalez would rather not give the issue a second look. "Dapat hindi na natin pinapansin," Gonzalez said.
When asked as to how the general situation of the country is after Rodolfo "Jun" Lozada Jr. made a tearful revelation of what he knew about the alleged anomalies hounding the scrapped ZTE deal, Gonazales only had this to say, "Ok lang."
Lozada, after he was announced abducted, resurfaced Thursday dawn together with priests and nuns at the La Salle Greenhills campus where he held a press conference.
The Senate Sergeant of Arms by virtue of an arrest order issued by the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee then whisked Lozada to the Senate.
Gonzalez added that there is no real movement of people to bring down the present administration that was sparked after the revelations of Lozada. "Ilang taon na may nagrarally, but they only number 50, 150," Gonzalez said.
