Travel show set Friday

THE biggest tourism event, the 2nd Davao International Travel and Lifestyle Exhibition slated this week is expected to attract 150 exhibitors representing variety of products and services.

Lawyer Domingo Duerme, Philippine Airlines (PAL) vice-president for Mindanao, earlier said the event will not only focus on the traditional market, but also in the international tourism players like Japan and Russia.

Post here your Valentine's Day greetings

"There are a lot of interested airlines to come. The event is enforced by the private sector and we have invited agencies, which are related to tourism. It is a big event because it will be held back to back with the Bimp-Eaga Travel and Airlines Convergence Meeting," Duerme said.

The travel show will not only be held back to back with the Bimp-Eaga meeting, but also with the Building and Construction Show on February 22 to 24.

Duerme said Airlines and tour operators who are also expected to be the foreign guests of the show would attend the Bimp-Eaga meeting.

He added that with Davao City again hosting the event, it would be an advantage for the city to promote its tourism destinations.

Last year, the city also hosted the same event.

Duerme said Tourism Secretary Ace Durano is also expected to come as the guest of honor of the event.

The travel show aims to showcase all tourism products and services promoting Philippine tourism nationwide and to is neighboring countries.

The exhibitors of the Building and Construction Show, on the other hand, are expected to build their presence in the industry, demonstrate new technologies and generate substantial sales leads.

Last year, the building and construction show attracted 5,773 highly selected trade buyers and decision-makers that resulted in an overwhelming response from the participating companies.

The travel show and the building and construction show will both be held at the SM Entertainment Plaza in Davao City. (JGRS)
