Tuesday, February 19, 2008 Ramos to grace 13th UPMin anniversary
FORMER President Fidel V. Ramos will join other personalities who were instrumental in the creation of UP Mindanao on its 13th Anniversary Testimonial Dinner and Kick-Off Ceremony of the UP Centennial Celebration in UPMin on Friday.
UP president Emerlinda Roman and UP Mindanao Chancellor Gilda Rivero will lead in honoring the former President during whose term UPMin was created. Other honorees and guests that are expected to attend include Congressman Isidro Ungab, former Congressman Ruy Elias Lopez - whose late father, former Davao City Mayor and Congressman Elias Lopez, was the lead author of the law, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, UP alumni led by businessman Sebastian Angliongto, and Congresswoman Cynthia Villar, Chair of the House Committee on Education and member of the UP Board of Regents.
The testimonial dinner will be followed by the UP Centennial Kick-Off in UPMin, and after which will be the 1st UPMin Grand Alumni Homecoming.
UPMin was created through Republic Act 7889 on February 20, 1995 after years of persistent efforts by the UP alumni community in the region, and is unique in being the only UP unit that was created by law. All other UP units were created through the UP Board of Regents.
