THE RIZAL Memorial Colleges (RMC) Bulldogs pulled off a 102-96 victory over the Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) Blue Knights in a pulsating championship showdown Saturday to bag the 2008 EDSA Anniversary Basketball Tournament at the Davao City Recreation Center.
Hernan Dejito scored 32 points to lead the Bulldogs, which engaged the Blue Knights in a fierce, running game all throughout.
Richard Madelo matched Dejito's output with his own 32 to lead the losing team.
Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman William "Butch" Ramirez came over to witness the final match and awarded the prizes to the winners.
The victory was worth P10,000 to the Bulldogs, who reached the finals after beating the Agro-Industrial Foundation College in the knockout semifinals Friday.
Ateneo made it to the championship game after edging Holy Cross of Davao College Crusaders in the other KO encounter.
Agro placed third while the Crusaders finished fourth in the two-day tournament supported by Davao City Sports Coordinator Christopher "Bong" Go and BAP-SBP 11 headed by regional director Regino "Boy" Cua.
