Dugos, Mamac-Diaz top Edsa run
By Marianne Saberon-Abalayan

HOLY Cross of Davao College (HCDC) bet Joselito Dugos and former Milo Marathon champion Estella Mamac-Diaz clinched the men's and women's 10K open titles of the Edsa Anniversary Run in an out-and-back course from the Rizal Park Monday.

In the 5K event, HCDC's Philip Ocon and Jane Lou Dasoc outsped their rivals in men's and women's divisions to emerge champions in the race where the winners received cash prizes from Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman William "Butch" Ramirez.

Dugos clocked 34 minutes and 58 seconds to beat Elmer Bartolo who finished second with a time of 35:07, while Palarong Pambansa gold medallist Anthony Nerza of Digos came third with 36:52.

Lloyd Malinao timed 39:23 to grab the fourth spot, while out-of-school Joseph Flores registered 41:52 for fifth.

Diaz clocked 43:36, while Rizal Memorial College's Monaliza Ambasa (44:30) settled for the runner-up honors. University of Mindanao's Vivian Avergonzado (51:02) was third.

National Open Track and Field Championships junior titlist Philip Ocon (15:34) topped the men's 5K event over teammates Kent Panerio (16:24) and Flor Guimagan (16:39), who placed second and third, respectively.
