Execs join Arroyo in unity walk
By Ben O. Tesiorna

LOCAL government officials sympathetic to the administration of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo joined her in a "solidarity walk" at Malacañang grounds Tuesday.

Reports reaching Sun.Star Davao showed that as early as Sunday, government fficials from various parts of the country started flying to Metro Manila upon Malacañang's request for their support "in these trying times."

Among the Dabawenyo officials who went to support Arroyo were Governors Arturo Uy of Compostela Valley and Douglas Ra Cagas of Davao del Sur. Efforts to reach Governors Rodolfo del Rosario and Corazon Malanyaon for confirmation proved futile as of this writing Tuesday.

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte also flew to Metro Manila Monday evening, but it was not ascertained if he went to the Palace Tuesday to give his support to the President.

In a text message, Cagas said he is supporting the President until the end.

The League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) met with Arroyo on Monday and the governors had their solidarity walk Tuesday morning.
