AS PART of the Department of Agriculture's (DA) thrust to reduce hunger especially in countryside, an area-wide consultation with stakeholders or a Food Summit will be conducted.
DA Regional Executive Director Roger C. Chio said food summit is one of the government strategies to solicit information and identify the root cause of poverty or the gaps and how it can be addressed through strategic action plans and policies.
He said this consultative forum also aims to generate program and policy recommendation that would further enhance agricultural and fisheries growth in order to contribute to poverty reduction and hunger mitigation.
The food summit will be held on February 29 at Apo View Hotel, Davao City.
It will be participated in by various stakeholders involve in the production, transport, manufacturing, processing and shipping of agricultural products.
Participants will be composed of Mindanao B area, which include Southern Mindanao, Central Mindana, and Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm). (Press release)
