Friday, February 29, 2008 SM Supermaket introduces eco-friendly 'Greenbag'
IN THE face of environmental problems challenging the country, SM Supermarket spearheads the movement in changing the way Filipinos shop, the eco-friendly way, with the Greenbag.
The Greenbag, an initial project of SM Cares (Concerned and Responsible Eco-Shoppers), can be used in lieu of the ordinary plastic bag. It aims to reduce waste by decreasing the use of plastic bags in shopping. It's made of durable non-woven material that can approximately last up to two years of weekly shopping. The contents of two regular plastic bags can easily fit inside a Greenbag.
Sold for only P35, a small price to pay for the benefit of a much cleaner and safer environment, Filipinos can now do their share in saving Mother Nature.
Also, by purchasing a minimum of P500 worth of Yellow Tag items, customers can win a Greenbag by playing the pachingko game. As another benefit of using the Greenbag, SM Advantage cardholders can earn points by saving the environment.
They earn two additional points for every use of the Greenbag. To date, over 300,000 shoppers have availed of the Greenbags and 1,000,000 Greenbags are now in use and still growing!
Aside from environmentally concerned citizens, more and more companies are joining the Greenbag Movement. Unilever, the original partner of SM Supermarket in the launch of the Greenbag; Citibank; Kimberly-Clark Philippines, Inc., manufacturer of Kotex, Huggies and Joy; United Laboratories, Inc., manufacturer of Ph Care; Johnson & Johnson Pte. Ltd., manufacturer of J&J Baby Milk Bath; Rheinland Distributions Inc., distributor of Vernel; and S.C. Johnson & Sons Inc., manufacturer of Pledge, are just some of the companies who have exerted effort in saving our planet.
So save a bag and save the world! Join the Greenbag Movement today!
