Speakout: The prize of not speaking out!!

WHAT have we, ordinary Filipinos, done to deserve this kind of governance? As if to insult the remaining sane Pinoys among us, political minions of this present administration have moved earth and hell just to smother the TRUTH.

Who can forget the "Hello Garci" scandal and the "Jocjoc Bolante fertilizer scam," to name a few. Now comes the ZTE-NBN Deal. What else could this government mafia inflict on us before we speak out and stand up for the Truth?

Post here your Valentine's Day greetings

I can still recall our teachers telling us to always speak the truth. During catechism classes in our village school in Basilan, the catechist always stressed that it's a sin to tell a lie.

How can we encourage our schoolchildren to always speak the truth when what they hear in radio and TV relative to the present controversy, are all falsehood and trickery? As a child and as a youth, we long for role models, local idols and heroes to emulate. I hope we can still find well-meaning Filipinos that will be worthy of our children's emulation.

Sometimes, it came to my mind that Filipinos are no longer interested to clean up this political mess besetting us. Maybe, we really deserve these political cockroaches to govern us. That is, if we don't speak up; it only shows that we approved all their wrongdoings at the expense of poor Filipino children who deserve a brighter future. (Danny Escabarte, Matina Aplaya, Davao City)
