CIDG files raps vs man for Tefasco exec's slay
By Rhodamae M. Hernandez

THE Criminal Investigation and Detection group (CIDG) filed murder charges against a man accused of shooting to death an official of Tefasco in Tibungco, Davao City in September last year.

Charged for killing Bella Piedad, Tefasco personnel manager, is Allan Simbulas, of Purok 6 in Tibungco. The filing of the charges stemmed from the sworn statement executed by the witness, Edilberto Soriano.

In his statement, Soriano said he decided to testify against the suspect after he learned that the victim had a family and children.

Soriano said he does not want Piedad's killing to be included in the long-list of unsolved killings in the city.

He said that in August last year, he frequently saw the suspect with a certain Jobert Enriquez and an unidentified man, later known as Simblante Felizardo, talking at the back of the suspect's house.

Soriano said he learned from a neighbor that Felizardo had been terminated from his work in Tefasco.

Soriano said after Piedad was shot dead on September 7, he saw the three men talking again and saw Felizardo hand over an envelope to Simbulas.

After which, Soriano said he was able to talk to Simbulas who admitted they were the ones who shot Piedad.

He said Simbulas told him it was accidental and they just intended to threaten the victim.

Soriano said while he was shocked, he knew the suspect was a known gun-for-hire in their place.

He also said that Enriquez, who was also killed in December, was a rebel returnee. The suspect remains at large.
