The victims were identified as Ruel Malaay, 29, and his mother, Erlinda Malaay, 54, of Block 22, Lot 1, Luzville subdivision.

Based on the investigation conducted by PO1 Estrello Ramiso of the Sasa police station, the incident occurred at around 7 p.m. on Saturday.

According to the police, the victims were outside their house when a motorcycle with two men onboard stopped nearby and fired their guns.

There are unconfirmed reports that the suspects were targeting Ruel and his mother was accidentally hit because she was standing beside him.

After the incident, the suspects fled onboard a red motorcycle.

Neighbors brought the victims to the Davao Medical Center where they remain as of Sunday.

Based on hospital records, Ruel sustained seven gunshot wounds, while his mother was hit on the right portion of her body. Police found four empty shells of a caliber .45 gun at the crime scene.

Several eyewitnesses describe the gunman to be around 30 years old, 5'9" tall, and wearing a black jacket.

Authorities are positive that the crime will be solved after Erlinda said she could identify the suspect.

She said the gunman is one alias Dodong (full name withheld by Sun.Star SuperBalita pending confirmation).

Police are still conducting further investigation on the incident. (RCO)
