Orteza is Class B champion

FORMER Sunday Bowlers Club (SBC) president Emie Orteza struck for 223 pinfalls to emerge class B champion in the SBC Bowler of the Week Tournament at the Fairlanes Bowling Center Sunday evening.

Orteza defeated Rudy Benigno who made 22 pinfalls and Peter Morales who scored 210. Benigno instead placed second while Morales finished third.

Jimmy Sia bagged the class A title by hitting 250 pinfalls over runner-up Madz Lauro (247) and third-placer Mel Bojo (239).

In other categories, Teddy Cansino ruled class C while Naty Amorillo dominated the ladies event of the tournament where champions book tickets to the monthly finals.

Cansino amassed 222 pinfalls, while Jimmy Ranis garnered 212 and Nick Sumapig had 205.

Amorillo, on her part, registered 211 over Mathess Domino's 205 and Liza Berandoy's 202.

Orteza, in a statement furnished to Sun.Star Davao Monday, said it is all systems go for the SBC Youth Individual Open Bowling Tournament slated March 15 and 17.

"It was reset to give way for the students to prepare for their final examinations," he said.

Orteza added that a good number of youth bowlers have signed up for the meet that features category A for seven to nine years old, category B (10-12), category C (13-14), category D (15-16), and category E (17-18). (MLSA)
