Realtors win All-Pinoy title
By Charles Raymond A. Maxey

MANILA -- Sta. Lucia Realty outgunned Purefoods Tender Juicy in the winner-take-all game Sunday, 100-88, to capture its first-ever All-Filipino title before an overflow crowd at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The Realtors turned to veteran Dennis Espino to pull through in Game 7 of the Smart PBA Filipino Cup and took the championship series at four games to three.

The six-foot-six Espino, a 15-year veteran, scored a game high 29 points and delivered the telling blows down the stretch that killed the Giants.

The 34-year-old Espino was later on named as the series Most Valuable Player (MVP) after leading Sta. Lucia to its second PBA crown.

Kelly Williams added 17 points, while Ryan Reyes chipped in 12. Nelbert Omolon and Marlou Aquino, another towering veteran at 6-foot-9, added 11 each.

In beating the Giants, Sta. Lucia also put to waste the 27-point explosion of backup guard Peter Jun Simon.

Simon, who hails from Davao, was awesome in the series decider, firing at will from the outside and slicing the lane with impunity for the Giants.

In the end, Simon's efforts weren't enough to turn the tide in their favor as Espino, Reyes, and Aquino joined hands to crush Purefoods.

Espino also finished the game with five rebounds, one steal, and one block.
