City's top 40 taxpayers cited

THE Davao City council commended the city's top 20 real property taxpayers and top 20 business tax and license taxpayers in two separate resolutions proposed by Councilor Pilar Braga under suspended rules during Tuesday's regular session.

Holcim Philippines, Inc., Halifax Davao Hotel, Inc. of the Marco Polo and SM prime Holdings, Inc. comprise the top three as highest real property taxpayers, while Davao Light and Power Company, Mindanao Shopping Destination Corporation and DSG Sons Group, Inc. were top three highest business and license taxpayers.

Completing the list for the real property category are Coca-Cola Bottlers, Inc. Dynasty Management and Development Corporation, Grand Regal Hotel, Shogun Management, DSG Sons Group, Mindanao Corrugated Fiber, Metropolitan Bank and Trust Company, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Terminal Facilities and Services, Pilipinas Makro, Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT), The Royal Mandaya Hotel, Lapanday Packaging Inc., FEP Printing, Philippine American Life, Emcor Inc., J. King & Sons Company and the Master Tours and Travel.

On the business and license tax category, the list is completed by Supervalue, Inc. (SM Supermarket), Cosmos Bottling Corp., Holcim Phils., Davao Central Warehouse Club, Zuellig Pharma, Lapanday Foods, Mindanao Corrugated Fireboard, Felcris, Davao Diversified Marketing and Management, Star Appliance Center, Southwood Mindanao Corp. Golden Hardware, Unifrutti Phils and Mars Agri-Ventures & Commodities.

The companies were honored and given plaques last Monday at the City Hall.
