On the other hand, the number of international passenger traffic increased by 60.6 percent from 33,663 in 2006 to 53,856 in 2007.
Neda-Southern Mindanao said extensive tourism development; promotion of lower fare rates; and the opening of additional international flights triggered the increase in international passenger traffic.
As of December 2007, Neda said there are 11 international flights per week from Davao City for Incheon in Korea, Manado in Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
The domestic cargo traffic was also up by 9.6 percent, which reached 45.5 million tons in 2007. International cargo traffic, on the other hand, reached to 15,455 tons during the year.
Meanwhile, Davao City has the largest number of tourist arrivals last year with 81.3 percent, while Igacos, Davao Oriental, and Compostela Valley got a share of 5.7 percent, 3.7 percent, and 1.3 percent, respectively.
Davao del Norte and Davao del Sur both had 3.1 percent tourist distribution last year.
