Tuesday, March 11, 2008 Figaro opens 2nd coffee shop at SM
TWO years after it set up its first coffee shop in Davao City (at Chimes Specialty Store on Sales St.), Figaro will open its second outlet at SM City Davao on Thursday, March 13.
Coffee has become a way of life in Davao as evidenced by the number of coffee hangouts in the city. Dabawenyos have warmed up to coffee shops to network for business or socializing with friends, very much like the coffee lifestyle in the prominent cities around the country.
With the opening of a second Figaro coffee shop in SM-Davao, shoppers will have a new place to meet up with friends or cool their heels after shopping.
Figaro started as a hobby among coffee lovers that soon became a growing business. In their many travels, the founding partners enjoyed coffee most in European cafes, which was the inspiration behind Figaro.
Their dream was to share the "fine art of coffee" among the Filipino customers, which they soon achieved with their hands-on involvement in the cafe.
Figaro opened its first coffee kiosk in 1993, way before the international chains came into the country. Figaro has become famous for its freshly brewed coffee, espresso-based classics and iced coffee concoctions.
It started franchising in 1998 and now has expanded to over 60 stores in the Philippines including a flagship store in Shanghai, China.
Figaro prides itself with its coffee beans sourced from farms around the coffee growing regions of the Philippines: Benguet, Ifugao, Cavite, Negros, and Bukidnon are key sources of coffee.
The coffee beans are roasted and blended in select batches so they remain consistently fresh before they are delivered to Figaro coffee shops. This is the secret to the good coffee that Figaro is known for.
With the opening of a second Figaro at the Ground Floor of SM-Davao, Dabawenyos can look forward to more pleasurable shopping and great conversations over good, fresh coffee, and a delectable selection of pastries.
