In this Hollywood version of Japanese 2003 horror hit, "Chakushin Ari," the setting was moved to US.
Several people start receiving voice-mails from their future selves -- messages, which include the date, time, and some of the details of their deaths.
Beth Raymond (Shannyn Sossamon, "Catacombs") is traumatized when she witnesses the gruesome deaths of two friends just days apart.
Even more disturbing, she knows that both of them had received chilling cell phone messages -- actual recordings of their own horrifying last moments.
Impossibly, the calls were received days before they died, but each death occurred precisely when and how the messages foretold.
The police think Beth is delusional -- except for Detective Jack Andrews (Edward Burns, "27 Dresses") whose own sister was killed in a freak accident that bears a strange similarity to the deaths of Beth's friends.
Together, Jack and Beth work feverishly to unravel the mystery behind the ominous calls. But even as they get closer to the truth, Beth's cell phone begins to ring with an eerie tune, and the readout displays: "One Missed Call."
Blonde Ambition
A loose remake of 1988's "Working Girl," "Blonde Ambition" is about a girl who doesn't quit.
Katie Gregerstitch (Jessica Simpson of "The Dukes of Hazzard"), a small-town Oklahoma beauty who's come to New York to visit her long-time boyfriend.
But after finding him in the arms of another woman, Katie decides to lose her cheating man and to find herself. With the help of two scheming co-workers (Andy Dick, "Employee of the Month" and Penelope Ann Miller, "The Messengers"), she lands a job at a top construction firm where she meets and falls for a great guy (Luke Wilson, "Vacancy") with an even greater secret.
Now, nothing is going to stop this go-getter from getting exactly what her heart desires in the romantic comedy that proves you can't keep a bright, beautiful down-home girl down.
3:10 To Yuma
Rancher Dan Evans (Christian Bale, "Batman Begins") heads into Bisbee to clear up issues concerning the sake of his land when he witnesses the closing events of a stagecoach robbery led by famed outlaw Ben Wade (Russell Crowe, "Gladiator").
Shortly thereafter, Wade is captured by the law in Bisbee and Evans finds himself one of the escorts who will take Wade to the 3:10 to Yuma train in Contention for the reward of $200.
Evans's effort to take Wade to the station is in part an effort to save his land but also part of an inner battle to determine whether he can be more than just a naive rancher in the eyes of his impetuous and gun slinging son William Evans.
The transport to Contention is hazardous and filled with ambushes by Indians, pursuits by Wade's vengeful gang and Wade's own conniving and surreptitious demeanor that makes the ride all the more intense.
